After a great warm up session, we got off to a horrid start today at four over through 3 holes. Missing the green on one with a pitch shot; a buried ball in the greenside bunker on two; and then a hooked drive on three into a water hazard put us in that position. But Kevin didn't panic. We continued to work through it and he was able to get three of those shots back by the time we stood on the 11th tee box. A couple of tee shots right on the 12th and 13th holes put us in bad positions but we were able to get two good looks at par (4 feet and 6 feet). We missed both of those putts taking us back to three over for the day and that is where we finished (73).
After the round we went straight to the putting green. Kevin did not like how the putter felt and we made a slight adjustment to his setup. He moved a little closer to the ball and he started to feel the putter releasing better. He took a break for lunch and then we went back to work. Some more putting, range work, short game and then more putting. Kevin is hitting good shots during his practice sessions, we just need to get it out on the course. Sometimes its just hard to get past the bad memories when you return to certain venues. But he is working extremely hard and we are in a much better place then we were a year ago.
We tee off tomorrow at 1:30 (6:30pm for everyone on the east coast). A solid round tomorrow and we can get right back in this thing.
