Puerto Rico Open - Practice and First Round

Kevin and I arrived on Monday. Kevin just spent the afternoon hitting balls, chipping and putting. On Tuesday, we played a practice round with Scott Brown, Blake Adams and Will Mackenzie. Our practice round was cut short, due to the pace of play, because both Kevin and Scott had a Sponsor Value obligation at 4:00 pm. We were only able to play 14 holes before we had to quit. After the Sponsor Value, we spent some time putting and chipping before we called it a day. Wednesday we woke up early to play the six holes we missed on Tuesday. We had to go out before the Wednesday pro-am so we met at 6:30am. Some heavy downpours delayed our start but we were able to get them in before the pro-am. We finished the day with some range work, chipping and some gambling with Garrett Willis on the putting green.

Today we teed off number 10 at 8:40. The wind blows hard here every day and today was no different. With the wind blowing a consistent 20mph with gust up to 25-30, Kevin played a very tidy, no bogey, round of four under (68). Every part of his game was solid. He made a few key sand saves late in the round (5 and 6) to keep the round together.

After the round, we finished the day with a little putting practice and then hit a few balls. He feels good about everything so there wasn't much we need to do. The wind is forecasted to blow all week with 50% chance of showers everyday. We tee off tomorrow on number one at 1:20.
